Saving Nigeria's 'Witch' Children

Some people have stories to tell which would make fifty percent sense to fifty percent readers in about fifty seconds. And many of us believe we have people born on the 32nd of any registered month in our head. Some even guessed the 13th month of the year.

Yeah, I know you're lost - The above is totally verged on the absurd.

But that's how some Nigerians think about 'witch' children.

However, you can still make a difference in the lives of these children.

First, I wanna let you know that you're truly gifted when it comes to creative writing. Your luring phrases are like special assignments for readers, in terms of doing researches. I've seen other bloggers' comments about your work, and no doubt, there're truly right about it. Keep up the good work.

About the 'witch children', the torturing is actually uncalled for. I hope people see this and ask themselves one question. "what if I were one of the children?"
Only the Almighty God will save us.

I was horrified when i came across the info on the torturing of kids all in the name of calling them witches...

Then I watched the movie 'Dispatches' on youtube and I was literarily enraged.

The level of ignorance in Nigerian christianity in some quarters is way too shocking. Its like a deja vu into the history of the killing of twins...

Sometimes I believe Africans generally go too far in their idea of pursuing the 'Suffer not the witch to live' principle. What further lends a credence to their cause is the fact that this phrase originates from the Bible itself. However, thesame Bible preaches repentance and forgiveness and it hurts that people just ignore this part of the Holy book, preferring justice to mercy.

If a child is killed all in the name of being a witch, it implies that the door of repentance is totally shut and what's more cruel? The witch or the One who kills the witch? Africa still makes me laugh.

Now, coming home, how do you think we can 'make a differnce' in the lives of these children? Meanwhile, your writing style is cool.

@ Douglas.. Thanx for ur comment. I surely will keep up the good work. And I also wish we, like U said, can put ourselves in those children's shoes.

@ Afronuts.. U got it right. There's a sense of deja vu between the so-called "witch" children and the killin' of twins in the past.

@ Gbengasile.. True. Selective chapters are what people read now. Like U said, Africans make me laugh, too. And thanx.

@ Buttercup.. Thanx. Yeah, U're right. We can only be saved by God.

Na wa oh! No wonder we don't have solar powered street lights, no wonder our railway system is nearly non-existent,no wonder education is almost exclusively for the priviledged, you know we've got more important things to do such as dealing with dem witch children!

@ Standtall.. I myself was shock. It shouldn't be dealt with this way.

@ Poeticallytinted.. U got that right. We tend to restrain ourselves from looking into the future and solving problems in all tiers of the economy bcuz killing innocent children comes first. Silly!
